Description
This edition bears “An American Wilderness Classic 35th Anniversary” seal and a new foreword by Terry Tempest Williams. Murie came to Alaska at the age of nine, and her story begins there. She married a biologist in 1924 and together they studied the caribou herds and began their life in the wilderness. At age 95 Murie is still determined that “nature has a right to life.” When her husband died in 1963, she continued to speak out about the importance of preserving the wilderness and has become the “spiritual grandmother” of the conservation movement.
