From the Land of the Totem Poles: The Northwest Coast Indian Art Collection at the American Museum of Natural History features 96 color plates and 86 black and white figures from the Museum’s collection in New York. The narrative investigates how the artifacts got to the museum, when they came, who brought them.
The rich history of this collection has broad cultural significance for it describes the relationships between whites and Indians, some of whom lived on the Northwest Coast, others who lived thousands of miles apart.
