Description
The first woman to win the 1100 mile Iditarod Race tells the story of her 1985 race. Libby knew from the age of six that she wanted to be close to animals, came to Alaska when she was 16 and immediately began the life of her dreams. She built a cabin, burned wood for heat, carried water, ate moose meat, learned about the Iditarod and ran her first one in 1980. She bred and raised dogs from her ‘80 and ‘81 races and four years later they pulled Libby across the finish line in Nome. Different in format than other PAWS books, this book is for grades 5 – 7.
